mentally, physically. Large motor, small motor. Quiet funshops. Loud,
wild, & crazy funshops!
The Live and Learn Conference is non-age-discrinimatory. All funshops
are open to all attendees! Smaller hands may require assistance, but
all are welcome!

Cootie Catchers are SO Cool! - Anne Ohman
Need I say more? Join me for some really cool cootie catcher creating. No cooties necessary...in fact, please leave your cooties at home. (If you don't know what a *cootie catcher* is, here's a bit of info for you from Wikipedia...check them out for more information: A cootie catcher or fortune teller [sometimes called a scrunchie and a chatterbox in Australia] is an origami device used in fortune-telling games by children. A player asks a question, and the holder of the device answers using a regular algorithm. The fortunes written inside can be anything, but what they are determines what questions a player can ask.)

Mask Decorating - Robyn & Jayn Coburn
I swear I thought of this before hearing about the Masquerade ball! We did this for Jayn's birthday party and the results were wonderful. Decorate a half face mask to wear or carry. I will supply blank paper mache masks, paints, colored papers (for decoupage), beads, sequins and assorted doodads. Match your masquerade costume or hang it in your house. I will also bring some dowels to turn the mask into a lorgnette if desired.
New Games for Playful Spirits - Robin Clochard
New Games aren't new (they've been around for over 30 years), and some of them couldn't really be called games at all—more like collective silliness. Whatever they are called, they are fun for everyone. Some might be games you've played before (ever try the People Pass? the Human Spring?), and some are twists on games we all know (get ready for some really strange games of tag!). The emphasis throughout is on cooperative fun and play rather than winning or losing. The only requirement to participate is the desire to have fun—we'll play together regardless of age or physical ability. What we do and how we do it will create a joyful time for all—the most important part of the game is the people playing it. All ages (PE dropouts especially encouraged to give these games a try!), bring a ball or two along if you can.
Nitrogen Ice Cream - James Coburn
Let's get together and make the fixin's we need for the Picnic's annual Nitrogen Ice Cream. Please bring the fixin's for your favorite Ice Cream recipe, and we will prepare them in advance for Sunday's Picnic get-together. The idea is that we will be preparing the mixtures that we will use *in advance* of the actual ice cream making event at Sunday's picnic.

Join Jeff (the Big Bald Guy) and put your imagination to work making your very own Paper Bag Puppet! We'll use lunch bags, felt, old Twinkies, glue, stickers, dead bugs, markers, loose toupees, pipe cleaners, crepe paper, cotton balls - whatever we can find to make our imaginations come alive. All you need to bring is yourself and a smile!
Pop Rockets Rock! - Amy Bowers
We will make pop rockets from film canisters and special rocket fuel. This is an exciting and safe fun shop for young (and old) rocket enthusiasts. It will be a blast!
Scrumptious Word Soup - Jennifer Johnson
Writing and Poem Making for everyone. We will play with some group poems, picture poems, haiku, experimental poetry, short short stories written in group format, freestyle writing, or folks can just come and do their own thing. We may listen to some well-known poets read their own work and we may share our own. We will invite people to contribute to a "thema"-style series- where each writer uses the same premise and creates a unique piece of writing. At the end of the conference all Word Soup participants (and other conference attendees?) will receive a booklet of our collected works.
Materials will be provided.
Temporary Tattoo Parlor - Steffi and Joni Zander
Come decorate yourself all over with as many temporary tattoos as you like - we'll have plenty for everyone!
